Unusual U

Well, we just wrapped up our U week! We had a great time playing umbrella games, talking about and trying on various Uniforms and much much more!
We made some FANTASTIC underwater pictures! The kids LOVED when they saw we were gluing a plate to the paper and how it really looks like a fish bowl!

We practiced our cutting skills by cutting out USA letters!

I scared a few parents when they saw the kids coloring underneath the table but I assured them that there was paper taped under the table for our UPSIDE DOWN drawings! The kids enjoyed getting under the table!

We used cupcake liners, pipe cleaners, cotton balls and blue glue to make some cute rain pictures

And of course, our Unicorn U's

And it just wouldnt' be right to learn about unicorns without making our own unicorn horns!

Quite Q

We had a good week learning about Q. Monday was President's Day so we spent the day incorporating a little presidential knowledge. We especially had fun talking about which presidents were on our coins, including the Quarter!

Here are our Q Quilts.
I love how our handprint queens turned out! I might just keep them up all year! Some of them have very unique personalities!

We played duck games because ducks say "QUACK"

And don't forget that Tuesday was our 100th Day of School! We had balloons, hats, coloring pages, and we counted to 100 several times! It was a VERY busy day

Items grouped by 100's. Each student brought in 100 of a certain item and shared their item with the class. We had some very creative items.

And the students worked very hard (in the hot sun) to stick 100 stickers on to a counting sheet! Seriously a few of them literally worked up a sweat!

Mrs Leah and I then furiously cut and stapled the stickers on our 100 day hats!

Here are our Abe Lincoln hats and beards from Monday

We also used shapes to make our own class quilt! I LOVE how it turned out! And of course our letter Q Quails. Honestly, for Q being such a tough letter, we sure accomplished a lot in one week!

V is for Valentine!

We had a great Valentine's week. Unfortunately I left my phone home on Thursday (the day of our party) so I didn't get any photos from our fun Valentine musical hearts game, hitting balloons with our heart rulers and our valentine boxes. But here are some highlights from the rest of the week. Thanks to all the parents who helped out with the party and for all the great boxes and treats!

We made some lovely heart people. Unfortunately not all the hearts were happy

Made some heart valentines

We read "If it rained hearts" and made some great clouds and hearts! Thanks Laura for the idea and help!

Letter V Vases
And Volcanoes from paper plates! It was a super busy week but I know we had a great time!

Krazy K and Winterfest

We had a fantastic week learning about K! Also during the week we held Winterfest on Thursday. We split our class in two groups and traveled around the school exploring ice, snow, ice skating and games! We took lots of pictures!
Here are our melted snowmen! With the adorable poem. "I made a little snowman, with a little hat, the sun came out and melted him and now my snowman's flat!

We painted faces on little snowmen for our snow globes!

Going along with our K theme we made kites using contact paper and tissue paper

Bean bag toss & Ice Skating

 Built giant snowmen

Played in "igloos" This one was a big hit

Use sand shovels to play in "snow"

Excavated ice with salt and used eye droppers to color ice
